Today we met Andy, a friend of Julia Johnston's, at Victoria Station and caught the train to Brighton, an English seaside resort. Whilst our image was of a quaint little village, Brighton is a busy city an hour out of London.
We explored Brighton Pier, the Fishing Museum, St Paul's Church and rode on the Brighton Wheel for a bird's eye view of the city and coastline.
Lunch was fish and chips on Brighton Pier after chatting to the lifeguard on Brighton's award winning pebble beach (in the cold wind).
The highlight today was the Royal Pavilion. It was originally a country house purchased by Prince Regent, Prince George. When he became King George IV he extended and decorated the house, known as the Royal Pavilion with an oriental theme. It was spectacular! Elaborate carvings, wallpaper, chandeliers and furnishings adorn every room. We were amazed by it all....
